In 2011, Spencer retired as an Australian counselling manager after working 17 years straight in counselling. He successfully completed his PhD in New Testament in 2015 at the University of Pretoria, South Africa (department of theology).ย He was an active Christian apologist, writer, and independent researcher, and was ordained with the Christian & Missionary Alliance of Australia.
Spencer passed away on 6 June 2023 at the age of 77.
